In Bangladesh, the dire state of healthcare facilities for disadvantaged and underprivileged groups is a matter of grave concern that necessitates immediate and focused attention. Our Healthcare Program is firmly committed to ensuring that every individual, with a particular emphasis on women, children, and vulnerable populations, receives equitable, high-quality, and affordable healthcare services. We engage in close collaboration with local healthcare providers, national authorities, and international stakeholders to secure and enhance these essential facilities. Our program comprises a range of strategic initiatives aimed at addressing the multifaceted healthcare challenges faced by marginalized communities.
At the forefront of our endeavors, we organize regular health camps at our well-equipped Mirpur, Dhanmondi, Patuakhali offices and other project implementing areas. These camps serve as crucial platforms where experienced local and national medical experts provide complimentary diagnostic services and dispense vital medicines to individuals hailing from disadvantaged backgrounds. By undertaking this initiative, we strive to bridge the existing healthcare gap, ensuring that even those with limited means can readily access the care they so desperately require.
Central to our vision is the empowerment of young women and men, irrespective of their gender, age, religion, or sexual orientation, in making informed choices pertaining to their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). To actualize this objective, we implement comprehensive life skills training and deliver gender and sexuality education to our students within Obhizatrik Schools. Through these efforts, we challenge prevalent misinformation, debunk harmful practices, and foster an inclusive environment that not only facilitates the fulfillment of SRHR but also actively addresses instances of sexual and gender-based violence. Our youth-friendly SRHR services play a pivotal role in creating an enabling environment where individuals can access the necessary support to exercise their rights and preserve their well-being.
Furthermore, we accord paramount importance to the mental and psychological well-being of children within Obhizatrik Schools. Recognizing the power of personal stories and mental health education, our team of trained and certified youth speakers employs these potent tools to inspire, engage, educate, and equip young individuals, empowering them to prioritize self-care and extend support to their peers. By nurturing emotional resilience and fostering a supportive network, we endeavor to cultivate an environment conducive to holistic well-being.
A notable achievement stemming from our collaborative efforts is the establishment of a Boat Ambulance service, made possible through our partnership with IDLC, an organization deeply committed to “Financing Happiness.” Acknowledging the transformative potential of grassroots contributions in effecting social change, IDLC has extended loans to non-profit organizations, with OBHIZATRIK Foundation emerging as a beneficiary of this benevolent initiative. Since its inception in 2019, our Boat Ambulance service has been steadfastly providing emergency healthcare assistance to individuals residing in the underserved southern region of Patuakhali, where access to healthcare facilities is severely limited.
The overarching objective of our Healthcare Program is to establish and fortify comprehensive healthcare services for marginalized communities, thereby effectuating a substantial improvement in their overall well-being. Through this program, we have been able to effectively extend essential, life-saving medical care and resources to thousands of disadvantaged individuals across Bangladesh, laying the foundation for a healthier and more prosperous future.
