Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are essential in tackling a range of problems that affect mankind in a world full of challenges. Under challenging conditions, organizations frequently put in an endless effort to improve society. In a historic event, the OBHIZATRIK Foundation received the prestigious ICESCO Award in recognition of its remarkable accomplishments and invincible passion. To celebrate International Literacy Day on 8 September, the OBHIZATRIK Foundation’s project “Empowering the Poorest Women” has been awarded a prize for girl’s and women’s literacy by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO). OBHIZATRIK Foundation’s “Shokkhom Nari” project won this outstanding award.
“Shokkhom Nari” is one of our desired projects and the most responsive one. Through this project, we initially helped underprivileged women. Empowering women with startup businesses or sources of income is important because it promotes economic growth, gender equality, diversity, innovation, social empowerment, and job creation. Women entrepreneurs also serve as role models, address unmet needs, reduce poverty, and align with global development goals, contributing to a more inclusive and prosperous society.
The prize aims to encourage pioneering initiatives and best practices in literacy and non-formal education designed for girls and women. ICESCO will award to the two winners during the next session of the executive council in Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Being awarded girls’ and women’s literacy in 2023 by ICESCO Awards is a great honor for the OBHIZATRIK Foundation. This accomplishment benefits the Foundation as a whole and is a source of pride for Bangladesh. This honor confirms our commitment to uplifting our community, which is something we have always believed in.
The motto of the OBHIZATRIK Foundation is to be a part of changing Bangladesh. How can we change Bangladesh leaving half of its population in the darkness of illiteracy? Our one of the main aims is to provide quality education and lifetime learning opportunities to help underprivileged women and girls to be a part of a changing country.
With the recent recognition for girls and women’s literacy from the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the Foundation not only receives praise but also strengthens Bangladesh’s capacity to nurture change-makers who have an actual effect both at national and on the international stage.
