Following Bangladesh’s terrible floods, communities all throughout the nation are still struggling to begin the massive process of recovery. While immediate relief efforts have brought critical support to those affected, the long-term challenges of rebuilding homes, restoring livelihoods and reviving the local economy remain at the forefront.
Recognizing the importance of sustainable recovery, Obhizatrik has expanded its efforts beyond immediate relief to focus on rehabilitation and community development. Obhizatrik is working tirelessly to restore hope in the lives of those impacted by the floods, particularly in severely affected regions like Feni, Cumilla, Noakhali, Kurigram, Khagrachari, Fatikchari, Lakshmipur, and Moulvibazar.
One of the primary focuses is on home rehabilitation. The floods destroyed or severely damaged thousands of homes, leaving many families without shelter. In response, Obhizatrik has launched a comprehensive housing project to help rebuild homes for those displaced. Working in close collaboration with corporate partners like HUAWEI, ZXY INTERNATIONAL, MUSLIM CHARITY, CARE BANGLADESH and local communities, the foundation is constructing safe and resilient homes to ensure families can rebuild their lives with security and dignity.
In addition to shelter, livelihood generation is another critical aspect of the recovery process. The floods devastated crops, livestock, and small businesses, leaving many families without a means of income. To address this, Obhizatrik has implemented programs aimed at reviving livelihoods and creating new opportunities for income generation. The foundation is providing small-scale financial assistance, livestock and business support to individuals and families, helping them restart their businesses or explore new income streams.
The agricultural sector, which is the backbone of rural Bangladesh, was hit particularly hard by the floods. Entire fields of crops were submerged, wiping out the livelihoods of countless farmers. Understanding the urgency of reviving agricultural production, Obhizatrik is focusing on supporting farmers in the affected areas. As part of the foundation’s recovery plan, it is distributing seeds, farming equipment and other essential resources to help farmers replant their fields. By providing these resources, Obhizatrik is enabling farmers to restart agricultural production and contribute to food security in their communities.
Obhizatrik Foundation’s recovery efforts extend beyond individual assistance to focus on broader community development. The foundation is working closely with local community to rebuild infrastructure, improve access to clean water and sanitation, and promote education and healthcare services in flood-affected areas.
The path to recovery is long, but Obhizatrik remains committed to supporting flood-affected communities every step of the way.
