The Sheikh Russel Children’s Rehabilitation Centre prevailed over a thorough renovation project, a major step towards fulfilling its mission of providing improved care for children with difficulties. This is a successful moment for compassion and community spirit.
The renovation project set out with a clear vision to not only improve the physical infrastructure but to create an environment that fosters holistic development. A dedicated team of architects, engineers, workers, artists, and volunteers worked tirelessly for 3 months to ensure that the renovated center would not only meet but go beyond international standards for rehabilitation facilities.
On 11 November, we successfully completed our renovation project at the Sheikh Russel Children’s Rehabilitation Centre. A special inauguration ceremony marked this significant moment. At the inauguration ceremony, we were honored to have our Chief Guest Mr. SM Anwarul Karim, Deputy Director, District Social Services Office, Gazipur. Also, the Deputy Project Director of Sheikh Russel Renovation Centre, Mr. Nur e Alam, and Masood Rana, Monitoring and Field Officer, Muslim Charity UK. Our esteemed Executive Director, the Director of Operations of OBHIZATRIK, and other dignitaries from our team made the day even more special.
The nearly 50-year-old facility had been given a child-friendly makeover with new toys, tiling, wall repair and painting, tree planting, and electrical and tiling renovations. The renovated center now has modern conveniences such as inclusive classrooms, dine-in rooms, and improved medical facilities. Accessible steps, sensory-friendly areas, and adaptable equipment are just a few examples of how inclusivity is prioritized, guaranteeing that all children, regardless of ability, may fully engage in rehabilitation programs.
In particular, a heartfelt thank you goes out to Muslim Charity UK, whose unwavering support played a pivotal role in making this dream a reality. We also got overwhelming support from the community, local businesses, organizations, and individual donors who rallied behind the cause, showcasing a shared commitment to the well-being of the children at the center.
This rehabilitated facility is ready to inspire similar initiatives around the world by setting a new benchmark for comprehensive and inclusive rehabilitation services.
